Calvary Baptist Church at 529 Clifford Street, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

A friend and I were visiting this church about 2 months ago; we both know American Sign Language, and we were signing to each other while we were waiting for the service to start. Then the pastor of the church stormed up to both of us, and he looked FURIOUS. I was a bit stunned, because I don't know what I did wrong.

Pastor (thinking we're both trying to act like fools): "What's going on here? Is one of you guys Deaf?"
Me (quite seriously): "No, we're both hearing, but I study ASL at University, do you have any Deaf individuals at this church, though?"
Pastor (stunned by legitimate answer): Oh... uh... No, we don't. But maybe there's somebody else here that knows sign...

He walked off after that, but the whole situation was super awkward, and escalated to an unnecessary level. Never went back after that. I'd like to be able to communicate in my language of choice without receiving any sort of judgement.
